Two large districts overlap here: Capistrano Unified serves Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Ladera Ranch, Coto de Caza, and San Juan Capistrano, while Saddleback Valley Unified serves Lake Forest, Laguna Hills, and parts of Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, and Rancho Santa Margarita. Knowing which district a student is in, and what that district actually offers, changes the plan.
Program choice is unusually rich here and unusually confusing. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is authorized at several local high schools, including Mission Viejo, Trabuco Hills, and Laguna Hills in Saddleback Valley Unified and Capistrano Valley in Capistrano Unified, alongside AP-centered pathways and career and technical education academies at other campuses. Athletics is the other defining force. Mission Viejo's football tradition and the Trinity League programs at Santa Margarita Catholic and JSerra create a recruiting culture that pulls families into decisions about transfers, club schedules, and private school tuition as early as middle school, and often before anyone has looked at how it affects academics or eligibility.

It matters a great deal. The two districts offer different high schools, course sequences, and specialized programs. One of the first things we do is confirm the student's district and school options so the four-year plan is built on the right information.
Our student is a serious athlete hoping to be recruited. Can you help?
Yes. Recruiting is a major factor in this area. We help families align recruiting outreach and club schedules with course rigor, NCAA eligibility requirements, testing, and application deadlines so athletics and academics reinforce each other.
Should our student pursue the IB Diploma Programme or an AP pathway?
Several local high schools are authorized IB Diploma Programme schools while others are AP-centered. We compare the workload, the student's strengths, and how each path is evaluated in admissions before recommending a direction.
Are meetings held in person?
Yes. Families may meet with their advisor at our Mission Viejo office, with additional flexibility depending on the student's plan and needs.
